Sacramento Kings: Player grades at the one-month mark of the season
The bad grades for the Sacramento Kings
Glenn Robinson III
Grade: C+
Meh. Glenn Robinson III is about what we thought he would be: a body off of the bench that can play the wing and is a capable 3-point shooter. His playing time likely benefitted from the injury to DaQuan Jeffries, and he is averaging 7.4 points in his 18 minutes per game. He has hit a 3-pointer in eleven straight games. And that’s all I have to say about that.
Marvin Bagley
Grade: C
Marvin Bagley presents such a dilemma for Kings fans. For most, he will always be tied to Luka Doncic and the 2018 Draft, a forever story of what could have been for Sacramento. But many of us are doing our best to look past that, and see Marvin Bagley for what he is today instead of tying him to his draft position.
In what could have been a season of vast improvement, Bagley stumbled out of the gate. He put up pedestrian numbers over the first handful of games, including a three-game span in which he scored just 21 points in 75 minutes of play. But he has taken a slight turn since January 6th, averaging 16 points and 7.5 rebounds on 57/42/60 shooting splits.
Hassan Whiteside
Grade: C-
Whiteside has bounced in and out of the rotation for Sacramento, and it is always difficult to judge on a small sample size. But much like Robinson, he has been just about what we thought he would be. He grabs a few rebounds and will block a shot or two, but his best purpose is to serve as a big body down low to get minutes when Holmes and Bagley hit the bench. Whiteside is another piece that could be traded to a desperate contender down the road.
