Denver Nuggets: Pros and cons of pursuing Victor Oladipo trade – The verdict
Despite the concerns surrounding a potential Victor Oladipo trade, the Denver Nuggets should inquire about a potential blockbuster deal. Several high-end trade targets like Jrue Holiday and James Harden became available for trade this offseason that could have improved Denver’s contending status, but they walked away empty-handed.
For a team that could be just one piece away from being a legitimate title favorite, Denver should not let this opportunity slip away like the others. With everything that Oladipo provides, the reward undoubtedly outweighs the risk in this scenario. Before the season, whether he could return to his previous form was the most apparent question surrounding him, but the guard has quieted recent speculation about his injury concerns, and he is playing like an All-Star once again.
That could have him in high-demand on the trade market for contending teams looking to bolster their backcourt with another star. Currently on the books for $21 million this season, any potential deal involving the guard will not come cheap. Denver could piece together a package including Gary Harris and draft capital, the latter surely being the most compelling aspect of any deal from the Rockets’ side of things.
Making a move for the two-time All-Star could be a needle tipping addition for the Nuggets as they look to avenge their postseason defeat from last season. Whether the Denver Nuggets will shake up the foundation of their roster or not remains to be seen, but pursuing a trade for Victor Oladipo could increase their chances of winning a championship this season.
