The Milwaukee Bucks signed versatile wing Torrey Craig to a one-year, $1.6 million contract during the offseason to add more defensive firepower to the reshaped roster.

Shortly after helping the Denver Nuggets reach the Western Conference Finals last season, Craig came to Milwaukee with an exciting buzz around him. As someone who prides himself on defense, it seemed like the ideal fit for him to join the Bucks as an accountable perimeter defending option throughout their push toward an NBA championship.

Torrey Craig could be a difference-maker for the Milwaukee Bucks

While he may be limited offensively, Craig offers solid physical abilities backed by a strong mentality that’s displayed on the defensive end of the floor. He’s a reliable guy that can get stops defensively, and is very effective when defending guards or other wings.

The undrafted player out of the University of South Carolina Upstate has made a career out of pure grit and continuous grind. Craig initially began his professional career in New Zealand and Australia before finally earning a chance to compete in the NBA. While overseas, he won a championship and an MVP award in New Zealand and was later named as the NBL Best Defensive Player in the more competitive Australian league.

Torrey Craig has made a name for himself with his non-stop work ethic, imperative instincts, high-alert awareness, and clear-cut hustle. He initially transitioned into the NBA off of a training camp invite with the Nuggets, then worked his tail off to earn a two-way contract with the team. From there, Craig emerged as a consistent rotation piece and helped transform Denver into a top-tier defensive system while eventually landing a permanent spot on the roster.

It’s inspiring for other undrafted players to see Craig make his NBA debut at 27 years old and become worthy of an NBA roster spot. Following three successful seasons in the Mile High City, he now has a new home with the same aspirations in Milwaukee.

Unfortunately, his new beginning with the Bucks has kickstarted with the role of a bench warmer. Let’s dig deeper into the hot topic of the situation.
