What could an equally appealing trade look like?

You could look at it any way you want. The bottom line and harsh truth is that, in order to have P.J. Tucker alongside LeBron James and Anthony Davis, you’d have to “sacrifice” the main trade piece still on the team, Kyle Kuzma.

Via this trade, the Rockets get an exciting and relatively young player in Kuzma. He is currently having his best season yet shooting-wise, being as effective as 40.3 percent from behind the arc, which gets even more impressive when you see that he was shooting 33.1 percent prior to this season.

Kuzma is at this moment the longest-acting member of the team, being in LA since his rookie season in 2017. Despite having lost his starter spot, he played a big role in lifting the Larry O’Brien trophy in October.

Before the superteam was created, Kuz was the hit of the town. He averaged 17.3 points per game during his first two seasons in the league, even drawing comparisons to Jayson Tatum, a player with whom many thought the Lakers-Celtics rivalry would continue.

Despite all that, he is tied down on a very good contract, earning a total of $40 million up until the 2023-24 season. Given the countless positive signs he has shown in the past, even slightly approaching his form would make this a very friendly contract to have.

Wesley Matthews would probably have to be included in a potential trade, in order to make the salaries match. Losing a sharpshooter such as Matthews would sure sting for the Lakers, though Tucker is no slouch whatsoever.

This potential deal between these Western Conference rivals definitely suits both parties. The question is, will it be the best offer the Houston Rockets receive in the following weeks?
