After being crowned as 2020 NBA Champions, the Los Angeles Lakers have had a very promising start to the 2020-21 NBA Season. As of today, they are tied with their inner-city rivals, the LA Clippers, for the best record in the league.

With that being said, there doesn’t seem to be any room for improvement to the nake eye for LeBron James and co. given their recent performances. Luckily, there is always an opportunity to get better, in that case being Houston’s own P.J. Tucker.

Over the past few years, Tucker has proved to be an invaluable member of the Houston Rockets. Even though they failed to reach any further than the Western Conference Finals, Tucker’s impact on the team goes beyond his average numerical statistics.

The Los Angeles Lakers should take advantage of Houston’s situation and trade for P.J. Tucker to further bolster their roster.

After the most recent blockbuster trade, which saw James Harden finally fly out of Texas in exchange for Victor Oladipo and numerous picks, one thing became crystal clear. The Rockets are on the verge of a rebuilding process.

Consequently, what do you do with a 35-year-old player on an expiring contract? The most glaring of choices would be to trade him away, possibly to a contender, which is what the Rockets are most likely to pursue.

Even though the Los Angeles Lakers hesitated to make any trades during their championship-winning season, history does not always repeat itself. Given the chance to improve the team, Rob Pelinka should look really closely at how the P.J. Tucker situation unfolds in the following weeks.
