Detroit Pistons: Blake Griffin and 5 other surprising players so far
By Corey Rausch
5. Saddiq Bey
Until the most recent games Saddiq Bey had looked to have secured himself a position in the starting lineup. Even if he is a current victim of Dwane Casey’s rotation roulette there is no reason to lose any of the optimism Bey has generated so far this season.
He is shooting a blistering 40.6 percent on 4.9 3-point attempts per game. He has had seven double figure scoring games so far this season, impressive for the third first round selection for this team. He is the prototypical 3-and-D wing with the potential to be so much more.
His shooting inside the arc has been a different kind of surprise so far. While he has been a flamethrower from deep he is shooting a frigid 25.0 percent from 2-point range. This will obviously improve and as it does Bey will only become a clearer fixture in the offensive attack.
He is already one of the few floor spacers for the Pistons so he has a role no matter what. It is just about growing and flourishing. Blake Griffin called him the most complete rookie he has seen and beyond the close-range shooting it is easy to see why. Bey is the real deal.
