. . Previous: 6th. Nikola Jokic. 2. player. 73

Since last rank: 28.3 PPG, 13.3 RPG, 8.3 APG, 2.0 SPG

Shooting splits: .567/.214/1.000

Nikola Jokic is putting up a battle for the No. 1 spot even though his Denver Nuggets are struggling to string wins together. They’re back to .500 after a blowout win over the OKC Thunder on Tuesday night, and Jokic had a typically splendid night with 27 points, 12 rebounds, six assists, a steal and a block in 28 minutes. Light work for the big man.

The Nuggets might just be 7-7, but it’s to Jokic’s credit that they’re even treading water thus far. When Jamal Murray and friends get it together, the Nuggets could go on a big run this season.

. Previous: 1st. Kevin Durant. 1. player. 147.

Since last rank: 32.7 PPG, 5.7 APG, 5.3 RPG, 2.0 BPG

Shooting splits: .554/.588/.889

Did Kevin Durant lose a step after rupturing his Achilles in the 2019 NBA Finals? No, it appears he did not. He remains firmly in the mix at the top of these rankings and it’s almost impossible to credibly pick anybody over him as the leader of the MVP pack, especially as reinforcements are set to arrive for the Brooklyn Nets in a big way.

At this point, the MVP award and these rankings are Kevin Durant’s to lose because he has continued to be absolutely spectacular this season since the opening tip.
