2. Philadelphia 76ers

Ironically, the Sixers might have felt like an even better fit if they ended up trading away Tyrese Maxey in a deal that netted them James Harden. Daryl Morey wasn’t able to pull the trigger, however, and now Porter may end up becoming a consolation prize.

Maxey and Porter have similar games, with their abilities to create shots for themselves and draw defenses on their attacks. They even have similar builds, with Porter being slightly taller at 6’4″ (Maxey is 6’2″), but both weighing in around 200 pounds. Having both, however, may be doubling down too much in one area of building a team.

The Sixers could still be a good fit to take this kind of risk. There’s a healthy mix between young players and savvy vets in Philadelphia and the team is off to a very promising start this season. He could either contribute to a good team right away or have time to sit and absorb what’s going on around him.

Like the Rockets, the Sixers also have someone on their coaching staff who has a reputation of being a solid mentor for young players in coach Doc Rivers. Rivers is in charge of the whole team and may not have the time to dedicate to Porter during the season, but it could make for a fruitful partnership down the road.
