NBA top trade targets still available – Lou Williams, LA Clippers
Lou Williams has earned his reputation as one of the best reserves of all time as he boasts three Sixth Man of the Year awards. However, despite the three best years of his career coming with the LA Clippers from 2017-20, the guard could be on his way out ahead of the NBA trade deadline.
According to The New York Times’ Marc Stein, the Clippers were open to moving Williams following his subpar showing in their recent trip to the postseason. Although LA did not trade him in the offseason, opposing teams could be more willing to make a move towards the deadline, given Williams’ stature as a prolific second-unit scorer.
Teams lacking a scoring punch in the second unit, say, the Philadelphia 76ers or New Orleans Pelicans, should have a strong interest in the 34-year-old to bump those numbers up. Williams also has a fairly affordable contract to take on, set to make $8 million this season before becoming a free agent in the offseason.
NBA top trade targets still available – Derrick Rose, Detroit Pistons
Derrick Rose has been shrouded in trade speculation since he signed with the Detroit Pistons two offseasons ago. The former MVP was a highly-sought-after asset before the stoppage of play last season, and many viewed him as a needle-tipping piece. However, Detroit kept him on the roster rather than seizing the opportunity to add more assets.
Trade rumors have followed into this season, as teams in the market for a second unit floor general will certainly be in hot pursuit of Rose as the trade deadline approaches. The LA Clippers and the Los Angeles Lakers were two teams that appeared most interested in Rose last season, and they will likely be back in the mix this time around. Rose is on the books for just $7.7 million this season, making him all the compelling for teams looking to inquire about his services.
