The perspective of the New York Knicks

To those still questioning Oladipo’s potential fit in New York, the answer is simple as that. By joining the team, he instantly becomes the team’s best offensive, defensive and overall player. The Knicks finally acquire an All-Star-esque player to boost their playoff chances.

Even though countless jokes can be said about the following (and they should), the harsh truth for the rest of the league is that the Knicks will be active suitors in the 2021 free agency.

They finally have a culture that many stars will want to be a part of, with a great head coach and some very exciting young pieces. This seems like deja vu, doesn’t it? Oh yes, something similar to LeBron James and Jimmy Butler joining the Los Angeles Lakers and the Miami Heat respectively in recent memory.

The New York Knicks are far from contending. Hell, we don’t even know if they’re good enough to even challenge for the playoffs. Fortunately, as showcased by Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving in the summer of 2019, stars looking for a new home just want to see some positive signs from the team.

Victor Oladipo could end up being that positive sign exactly. He is a hard-working talented two-way star that has never caused any kind of locker room drama. Additionally, he has proved that he can co-exist with his All-Star teammates, such as Russell Westbrook and Domantas Sabonis.

Trading for Oladipo could signal the arrival of a big-time player in a few months. If that is not the case, you always have a very strong core around him, with players such as RJ Barrett, Julius Randle and Obi Toppin.
