In their search for a new franchise star, the New York Knicks could target Victor Oladipo to try and boost their team’s firepower even more.

The New York Knicks have had a fairly positive start to the 2020-21 season. A record of 6-8 marks their best start to the season since the Carmelo Anthony days of 2012-13.

Recent blowout wins against the Milwaukee Bucks and the Boston Celtics, in addition to continuity of excellent defense and hustle have had the fans on the edge of their seats for the first time in a long time.

Even though Tom Thibodeau’s experiment seems to be going according to plan as of today, there’s always room for improvement. In this case, improvement means adding some star-caliber talent to the squad to take this team forward.

A player that could pose as a serious trade target for the New York Knicks is Victor Oladipo. Previously rumored to be on his way out, the trade talk was really quiet for Oladipo since the start of the season, mainly due to the Indiana Pacers doing really well on their own.

And then, out of the blue, the Pacers traded Oladipo. In a move that very few got the grasp of, they received Caris LeVert and a 2nd round pick in exchange for the former All-Star and steals leader.

Prior to this season’s tip-off, the debate circling around him was whether he would be able to return to his old form or not, after suffering a ruptured quad tendon that forced him to miss more than an entire year of basketball activities.

If these nine games have shown us anything at all, it is that Victor Oladipo is back and hungry for redemption. In a very stacked Pacers team with multiple scoring options, he has managed to come within millimeters of his career-best year in 2017-18.

Oladipo is now a member of the Houston Rockets and it remains unclear whether they consider his expiring contract a plan of their future or not. If the Knicks were to exploit this situation, what would a trade for Vic look like?
