Future lottery pick potential? Promising

A top-3 lottery pick already looks to be attainable for the Detroit Pistons.

The scouting process for who they might take will be, like most things this season, a more challenging process.

Men’s college basketball is also struggling to get games played on time due to COVID-19.

The annual Bedlam matchup between Oklahoma and Oklahoma State scheduled for Jan. 17 was postponed due to COVID-19 issues with the Cowboys program — the same program holding future lottery pick Cade Cunningham.

Cunningham, a two-way guard averaging 18.0 points through 12 games, should be the ultimate prize in the upcoming draft.

Scouting Cunningham against quality teams will be difficult due to the lack of games played. The Cowboys will be one of many college teams to lose out on games due to the virus, and they could miss out on March Madness which would take away from the national spotlight struggling to make it Cunningham’s way.

However, his value is still promising as he likely could have gone straight to the NBA out of high school if the league allowed it yet.

The immediate future of rookie guard Killian Hayes is already in question due to injury, and the team is in a full rebuild, so the best-case scenario for the team is taking Cunningham as the best available player in the draft.
