4. Dewayne Dedmon

Possibly the best free agent big man on the market, Dewayne Dedmon makes plenty of sense for the Brooklyn Nets. After being waived and stretched by the Detroit Pistons during free agency the big man is still waiting for the right opportunity and Brooklyn could be just that.

Take out his mistake of signing with the Sacramento Kings last season and how that sidelined his production and he looks like a statistical fit that makes complete sense. Over three seasons with the Atlanta Hawks (including 10 games after the trade deadline last season) Dedmon averaged 10.2 points, 7.7 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.0 blocks per game with shooting splits of .499/.358/.802.

Why this is important is a function of the rest of his teammates. He will be able to provide some rim protection on the defensive end but his offensive game is primarily on the perimeter. He can spot up and move around the arc which means he does not clog the paint for James Harden, who thrives cutting to the basket and drawing fouls.

Very few big men in the league that are obtainable fit on both sides of the floor for this particular collection of talent. The fact that Dewayne Dedmon fits both and could be had for the veteran minimum makes it seem like the Nets should have already made the call. No time like the present.
