Coach of the Year: Tom Thibodeau

Obviously the most glaring one, coach Tom Thibodeau is rightfully a frontrunner for this award around the league. His defensive tactics have helped perform a 180-degree turn on this ship that was heading towards a shipwreck.

Coaching the Knicks is not easy. The constant name-calling directed by the press and the extremely demanding fanbase makes it one of the hardest jobs to do around the league.

But coach Thibodeau did not back down. He took on a new challenge and so far, it seems to be paying off. The Knicks were capable of offering Thibodeau the one thing he most desires; A young core with tireless bodies set to follow his extreme tactics.

Two of his starters, Randle and Barrett are sitting within the top-5 in minutes played around the league. Honestly, they should have known that was coming.

Regardless of those exhausted legs after a long game, playing this young core as much as possible is what is going to get them out of this 5-year slump they’ve been in. Randle is improving and so are Barrett, Payton, Bullock and Robinson.

At the end of the day, coach Thibodeau has managed to do the most, while having the least at his disposal. That right there is what separates a good coach from a great one. Could Thibs continue his path and win his second Coach of the Year award?
