Brooklyn Nets: 3 thoughts on pushing in the chips for James Harden
By Duncan Smith
The Houston Rockets reached a breaking point with James Harden on Tuesday night. Now, the Brooklyn Nets appear poised to swing for a trade.
Nothing spurs action like a deadline, and the Houston Rockets had just such a cutoff point foisted upon them when James Harden spoke to the media on Tuesday night. At this point, it’s clear that he has worn out his own welcome in the Rockets locker room, and the time for posturing and delays has come to an end. This team needs to trade him and to do so immediately. On the receiving end of such a deal may wait the Brooklyn Nets.
The Nets have been in the mix for Harden trade rumors since before the offseason began just a couple of months ago, and with this peaking crescendo in Houston, it looks like they may be taking the lead down the final stretch for his services.
There’s a lot to mull over when it comes to any Harden trade, as well as what the Brooklyn Nets can and will give up for him. We also need to consider the fact that a team like the Philadelphia 76ers may make a final unbeatable offer for him and take the prize (if Harden even is a prize at this point), or whether some dark horse team will swoop in out of nowhere and make the trade themselves.
We’ve been speculating rampantly here on this site over the past few months about this topic, and it looks like any time now the actuality of the situation is about to take place. While we wait, let’s take a look at the three main concerns going into this for the Brooklyn Nets.
