2. LaMelo Ball, Charlotte Hornets

12.8 points, 6.3 rebounds, 5.3 assists, 1.5 steals

Shooting splits: .435/.356/.720

Perhaps the prospect in this draft class with the highest upside, LaMelo Ball keeps growing before our eyes. On Saturday he helped lead his Charlotte Hornets to victory over the Atlanta Hawks, putting up a triple-double with 22 points, 12 rebounds and 11 assists. He broke a record once held by his own brother, Lonzo Ball, becoming the youngest player to ever record a triple-double (Markelle Fultz was the record-holder before Saturday). Ball has acclimated to the NBA game at a rapid pace and has been everything the Hornets could have hoped for so far and more.

1. Tyrese Haliburton, Sacramento Kings

12.1 points, 5.5 assists, 2.6 rebounds, 1.4 steals

Shooting splits: .522/.500/.889

It is too easy to forget that Tyrese Haliburton is a rookie already, and he only has eight NBA games under his belt so far. The 20-year-old is quickly setting aside pre-draft worries about how his game would translate to the highest level, and it looks like his supposedly broken jump shot is anything but as he’s shooting 50.0 percent from 3-point range. In fact, he’s scoring a ridiculous 1.455 points per possession on jump shots, and he’s 6-of-11 on jump shots off the dribble which was a major weakness for him coming into the draft. Haliburton may come back to earth at some point, or this might just be who he is. Either way, right now he’s our top-rated NBA rookie over the first couple weeks of the season.
