Milwaukee Bucks: 4 false assumptions after the first 8 games
The Milwaukee Bucks are off to a middling 5-3 start. Their fans should not be worried. They have what it takes to reach the Finals.
The first time I saw The Last Dragon, I assumed that Bruce Leeroy would always be too shy to talk to girls and that his nemesis, Sho’nuff, would always be considered “The Shogun of Harlem.” However, not only did Leeroy go on to defeat Sho’nuff in an epic confrontation, but he also won the affection of Laura Charles, the most sought after girl in New York City. It just proves the old adage that “jumping to conclusions can be a bad exercise.”
Sports fans are notorious for jumping to conclusions and making assumptions. All too often, early-season success by an overachieving team gives their fan-base a glimmer of hope before they predictably end up missing the postseason. The same can be said about teams that are perennial contenders. If they don’t get off to a hot start, a portion of their fans will start to wonder if it’s the beginning of the end.
Milwaukee Bucks fans are no different. After having the best record in the NBA each of the past two seasons, expectations are high. In the off-season, the team acquired All-Star caliber point guard Jrue Holiday. They also signed two-time league MVP, Giannis Antetokounmpo, to the maximum extension allowed.
With All-Star forward Kris Middleton returning and the majority of the core still intact, anything less than a trip to the NBA Finals will be viewed as a disappointment in Milwaukee. Through the first eight games of the season, the team is a mediocre 5-3. However, it’s still too early for Bucks fans to be worried; there’s a lot of basketball left to be played.
Here are four conclusions Bucks fans may have jumped to after the first eight games of the season. Don’t worry, all of them are wrong.
