Sacramento Kings: Ranking De’Aaron Fox and the rest of the starting 5
1. De’Aaron Fox
It should come as no surprise that De’Aaron Fox is the best starter on the Kings. The only question is whether or not he’ll become the first franchise superstar in recent memory.
Fox is averaging 20.6 points and 6.3 assists per game this season, both hovering just below his marks a season ago. He also appears to be making some strides on the defensive end, averaging a career-high 1.9 steals per game and blocking 1.0 shots per game for the first time in his career.
Fox is leading the Kings in a handful of categories, including points, assists, and steals. He’s doing so while remaining a suspect three-point shooter, hitting just 31.0 percent of his threes this season.
One of the areas Fox is excelling in this season is getting to the charity stripe. He’s hit 33 of his 46 free throw attempts, with both his makes and attempts ranking in the top ten of the league this season. Hitting those free throws would be a welcome development, however, as his 71.7 percent success rate isn’t pretty.
Fox’s shooting struggles from three and free are preventing him from taking the next step. But otherwise, all the signs are there for De’Aaron Fox to be the Sacramento Kings’ best starter for years to come.
