Al Horford

Considered by most to be borderline untradeable during the offseason, Al Horford was shipped to the OKC Thunder where he is undoubtedly expected to rebuild his trade value. So far in five games he is posting per 36 minute averages of 12.1 points, 9.8 rebounds and 3.6 assists. He has visibly lost a step but could still be a valuable veteran presence on a team in need of such. If he can get back to his 35 percent from distance mark from a year ago even better.

The Sacramento Kings have been in the headlines for the wrong reasons of late again, with Marvin Bagley III’s father going on Twitter demanding a trade and De’Aaron Fox’s dad seemingly ready to pack his bags for him. The team, which got off to a solid start, has not won since and could use an infusion of culture. Horford could be just that.

Sending Bagley and Cory Joseph to the Thunder in exchange for Horford works for both teams. This may feel like selling low on the former number two overall pick but for the Kings they will at least have an adult in the room who they know will be available to play on a night by night basis.

Bagley is the kind of young guy a rebuilding team like the Thunder should take a chance on. Cory Joseph is a fine player who no longer really fits in Sacramento and makes the money work in the deal.
