2. Nikola Jokic: Denver Nuggets

PPG: 24.1 RPG: 11.7 APG: 11.9 Shooting splits: .614/.471/.822

Nikola Jokic is putting up video game numbers for the Denver Nuggets, averaging a triple-double that could best be described as a Russel Westbrook fever dream. His offensive production has been nothing short of astounding, and on a surprisingly unimpressive Denver Nuggets squad, he’s the best thing going and probably the only reason their 3-4 record is even that good.

The Nuggets will look better this season, but Jokic has been nothing shy of spectacular and is just a touch behind our No. 1 ranked player.

1. Joel Embiid, Philadelphia 76ers

PPG: 25.3 RPG: 11.7 APG: 3.3 BLK: 1.9 STL: 1.3 Shooting splits: .528/.409/.836

Joel Embiid has been the engine behind the NBA’s best defense and is dropping 25 points a night to boot. The Philadelphia 76ers are allowing a league-best 102.7 points per 100 possessions and Embiid’s 3.2 stocks (combined steals and blocks) are a big part of that.

To top it off, Embiid is putting up career highs from the field, from 3-point range and from the free throw line. At this point, there’s no denying that the combination of new president of basketball operations Daryl Morey’s personnel moves and new head coach Doc Rivers have been huge pluses for this team as they look to bounce back from a disappointing 2019-20 season.
