6. Kyrie Irving, Brooklyn Nets

PPG: 27.1 RPG: 5.3 APG: 6.1 Shooting splits: .504/.426/1.000

So can Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant lead this Brooklyn Nets team to a championship? We shall see, but in spite of their 4-4 record, the early results are encouraging. So far Kyrie is putting together what would be his most efficient season if it carries on, and the Nets offense is positively fearsome.

They need to keep this up, but there’s reason to be optimistic.

5. Kevin Durant, Brooklyn Nets

PPG: 28.2 RPG: 7.0 APG: 4.8 Shooting splits: .514/.455/.885

Kevin Durant is back and it’s almost like he never left. He’s been fantastic so far, and his hard work rehabbing last season has absolutely paid off. KD and Kyrie are averaging a combined 55.3 points per game so far, and the Nets’ offense has the fourth-best offensive rating in the NBA at 113.5.

He might not play enough to warrant MVP consideration, depending on how he and head coach Steve Nash treat back-to-backs and short-rest games throughout the season, but there’s no doubt he’s a candidate to be a top-5 player this season nonetheless.
