Memphis Grizzlies starting lineups: potential break-ins

Justice Winslow

It’s impossible to tell if Justice Winslow just has had bad luck or if his body cannot handle the grind of NBA basketball. What we do know is that in the infrequent times he’s on the court, he’s been very valuable and intriguing.

The Grizzlies gave up Solomon Hill, Jae Crowder and a disgruntled Andre Iguodala for the potential of a healthy Winslow, a 6’6” point forward who can defend at a high level and shoot at a decent clip.

Winslow could take the burden of ball-handling off Morant in the starting lineup at times or take the lead bench role reducing Tyus Jones’ load and becoming the sixth man for the Grizzlies. Either way, it depends on one thing: health.

Desmond Bane

The last spot goes to Desmond Bane

Bane has impressed in the preseason and draft gurus have said he’s a steal with the 30th pick. For the Grizzlies to get a stocky 6’6” two-way threat who shot 44.0 percent from three in his last season in college, that’s a decent grab for a transitioning team at the end of the first round.

The Grizzlies have a deep team. It’s a lot of players you’d like to have but no one your drooling over once you get past the top 2-3 players. This depth chart likely will keep the Grizzlies afloat, but we’ll see if the stars carry the team into the play-in push.
