The defending champions Los Angeles Lakers could use a bit of Christmas magic from Santa Claus, despite remaining the title favorites in 2020-21.

Running the risk of being greedy, the Los Angeles Lakers still have a ton of wishes for Saint Nick, even though they were ultimately crowned as 2020 NBA Champions, in a very traumatic and chaotic year for us all.

Contrary to most championship teams, these Lakers did not run it back after winning the trophy. Instead, they flipped some of their key players for a selection of better guys to surround their two superstars, LeBron James and Anthony Davis.

To sum up, they “traded” Rajon Rondo, JaVale McGee, Dwight Howard, Danny Green and Avery Bradley to add Dennis Schroder, Montrezl Harrell, Marc Gasol and Wesley Matthews to their already stacked roster.

They recently put the finishing touches on their potential dynasty of a canvas, by re-signing Davis, followed by a Kyle Kuzma extension a few days prior to the 2020-21 season tip-off. These moves were good enough to convince James to sign and stick around until at least 2023.

Despite losing their season opener, in an inter-city rivalry against the LA Clippers, this newly-formed Lakers team is looking pretty solid. They experimented with a ton of different lineups and threw their younger guys into the battle to end the game in the fourth quarter.

All in all, the team is looking very exciting as they embark upon their journey as the defending champions. That doesn’t imply, though, that a few changes couldn’t be made to further increase their chances at repeating in June.

If LeBron picked up the pen and started drafting a letter to Santa Claus, what is it that he would want the most, given that he’s been very good in 2020? (Besides Santa playing as the team’s backup point guard, of course).
