Prediction #5: Kyle Guy receives regular minutes

One thing that player movement is going to create is opportunities for other guys. There are a handful of rookies and two-way players that will have trouble finding rotational minutes at first, but that is subject to change along with the roster. Given his solid showing during the preseason, Kyle Guy could take a leap into regular minutes should someone like Cory Joseph be dealt.

Over his four preseason outings, the second-year Guy shot 47 percent from long distance on 19 attempts, including a 6-for-10 showing and buzzer-beating game-winner against the Warriors. He showed flashes of what made him a special collegiate player while making his case for a spot in the League.

As for Guy’s immediate playing time, coach Walton alluded publicly to the fact that there are not enough minutes for him while the team is healthy. Fox and Joseph are firmly cemented as the first and second point guards, and Hield and Haliburton will likely be the two options at the off-guard. But two of those players will be the season-long subjects of trade rumors, and Kyle Guy could be the first in line for a boost in minutes.
