Prediction #4: Tyrese Haliburton notches a triple-double

Triple doubles are an extreme rarity in Sacramento. Since the start of the 2017-’18 season, there has been just one instance of the statistical feat, when De’Aaron Fox put up a line of 31/15/10 against the Hawks in January 2018. In that same span of time, there have been 16 triple-doubles put up against the Kings. But there is a player on the roster that may be able to begin to change that fortune.

Rookie Tyrese Haliburton has been widely pegged as the steal of the 2020 NBA Draft, and we got small glimpses of why during the preseason. In his longest outing of the four games that Sacramento played, Haliburton logged 11 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists in 29 minutes. Not bad at all for a rookie with a shortened training camp and off-season.

Those numbers can give hope for the potential triple-double by Haliburton this year. It would likely come during the second half of the season when he is a bit more developed and receives a heavier load of minutes. While his game may need some overall polishing, his ability to fill the stat sheet is already undeniable. Triple double or not, Tyrese Haliburton will be a key to the future success of the franchise.
