New York Knicks: 3 blockbuster trades involving Julius Randle
1. Victor Oladipo
Despite being an all-star, the past few seasons have resulted in the plummeting of Victor Oladipo’s trade value. Basically, the consecutive injury blows he has experienced have rendered him available as a trade target.
All-Star, All-NBA, All-Defensive, steals champion, Most Improved Player award. Oladipo managed to cross all these things off his list in the span of one season, in 2017-18. With the asterisk of his health in mind, Oladipo remains a top-tier player in the league.
In Victor Oladipo, the Knicks are finally able to get their hands on an NBA star. A move whose outcome is entirely dependant on Oladipo’s ability to recover from his injuries, trading away Randle seems like a fair price to pay, as the reward could be extremely high.
Oladipo acts as a solution to the severe perimeter defense problems the Knicks have been happily ignoring for about a decade now. Despite his size, Oladipo can guard the best of ’em, including players that have recently had off nights by scoring 30 on the New York Knicks.
On the other side, the Indiana Pacers cash out on a player that can potentially leave once he enters free agency in 2021. Being stuck in mediocrity for these past ten years, the Pacers have proved that they are not afraid to make major moves to shake up the roster and compete.
Their frontcourt consisting of Domantas Sabonis and Myles Turner is definitely one of the most talented ones around the league, though has proved to be inefficient in advancing the Pacers further deep into the playoffs.
As a team, they are constantly being thrown into trade rumors, whether it’s Oladipo, Turner, or their other key players. If they choose to dismantle this duo, then Julius Randle and the Knicks would be one of their first calls, mainly due to this trade benefiting both sides.
Aside from Randle, the potential addition of Reggie Bullock can boost Indy’s shooting. Despite finishing as the 14th best 3-point shooting team, they actually attempted the least threes in the league, narrowly beating…well, the New York Knicks.
Oladipo’s work ethic would be insanely salutary around a group of rookies and sophomores that the Knicks possess. Could Vic be the mentor that RJ Barrett needs to showcase his talents around the league?
