The Washington Wizards have a new look this season following the trade of John Wall for Russell Westbrook. What can be expected from this brand new team?

The Washington Wizards made the biggest trade of the offseason so far, sending John Wall to the Houston Rockets for Russell Westbrook. With Westbrook in the fold, this will essentially be a whole new team from what we saw last season as Wall was sidelined for the whole campaign.

Let’s take a look at three bold predictions for this Wizards squad as the 2020-21 season rapidly nears.

1. The Washington Wizards will make the playoffs (or at least the play-in)

A season ago Bradley Beal did all he could to carry this squad to the playoffs, at least on the offensive end. It wasn’t enough as they finished 10th in the Eastern Conference with a 25-47 record.

However, thanks to the NBA’s play-in format, a 10 seed could have a shot at making the playoffs, but this team might even be too good for the Eastern Conference’s play-in. With Westbrook in the fold and returning talented players like Beal and Davis Bertans, this team is simply a whole lot better than the John Wall-less squad that scored a lot of points, stopped nobody and lost two-thirds of their games.

These Wizards may even find themselves battling for the seven seed if they’re able to stay healthy and Westbrook doesn’t miss much time beyond scheduled rest. They won’t be one of the best teams in the East, but they will be good enough to beat up on most of the bad teams and that’s generally enough to be a playoff squad in the junior conference.
