The New York Knicks have one of the most exciting young cores in the league, with a ton of storylines to keep an eye on throughout the season.
After a fairly uneventful offseason for a change, the New York Knicks decided to follow the route of rebuilding and try to move forward with the talent they already possess, mainly through the draft of these past years.
In the summer of 2019, the organization began a pretty major roster shift. As a result of this, the vast majority of the members of the rotation were veterans that would help the young core evolve and hopefully even make a push for the playoffs.
When the team’s postseason hopes finally flamed out, which was incredibly early on, the front office decided to pull the trigger on a few moves that would put the team in a better position for next year, both financial-wise and draft-wise.
This time out, the people at the headquarters decided to target, and ultimately acquire, a selection of less ball-dominant veterans that will hopefully provide this young core with much more time on the court and opportunities to grow.
The first few signs of 2020-21 Knicks basketball have been nothing but positive. Definitely more positive than people initially expected. Even though the regular season has yet to start, we’ve seen enough preseason and training camp action to be excited moving forward.
The expectations for this young team remain unknown. With the added chance of making the playoffs due to the play-in tournament for the 9th and 10th seeded teams, the target is definitely not out of reach.
With a lot of excitement towards the effect that Tom Thibodeau has already started having on these promising rookies and sophomores, could this be the year that New York Knicks fans finally get to see their team develop their home-grown talent properly?
