Now that we are on the cusp of the 2020-21 season, it is time to rank our projected starting five of the San Antonio Spurs.

The San Antonio Spurs had a reasonably quiet offseason. They did re-sign Jakob Poeltl and Drew Eubanks as well as drafting Devin Vassell and Tre Jones. They also signed free agent Cameron Reynolds to a minimum deal

However, they did not re-sign Marco Belinelli as he appeared to be past the point of his career where he was effective enough. The Spurs also lost Bryn Forbes, their starting shooting guard to the Milwaukee Bucks.

This loss is going to hurt the Spurs as Forbes was the only member of the Spurs starting lineup last season who was a true floor spacer. DeMar DeRozan and LaMarcus Aldridge are both tremendous in the mid-range but that does not space the floor as well.

Will the San Antonio Spurs look to push the youth movement?

The Spurs have two starters who are over 30 years of age. Aldridge is the oldest Spurs player at 35 and DeRozan is only a few years behind at 31. On top of this, key reserves Rudy Gay is 34 and Patty Mills is 32.  Given where the Spurs finished last season, they may look to develop their younger talent this season.

They have committed to Dejounte Murray long-term with a four-year deal. They have also signed Vassell, their first lottery pick since Tim Duncan, to a four-year rookie deal Poeltl, Luka Samanic, Keldon Johnson, Eubanks, and Jones have all got three years left on their contract.

With all that in mind, let’s rank the starting five of the 2020-21 version of the San Antonio Spurs.
