1. Anthony Davis wins both MVP and Finals MVP

Anthony Davis had a blast during his first season in purple and gold. He led the team in scoring, rebounds, blocks and steals and was a major part of the team’s incredible playoff run that was capped off with the 17th Larry O’Brien trophy in Los Angeles Lakers franchise history.

Actually, AD is just getting started. At the age of 27, he seems to be getting better year in year out. He was the team’s first scoring option last season and will be even more so, given the deceleration of his buddy LeBron.

Right now the Lakers are at the top of the basketball world. With an incredible roster around him and a superstar teammate with the passing ability few have possessed, Davis could lead the Lakers to the first seed once again, making his case for an MVP trophy even easier.

Davis didn’t receive much consideration last season, mainly due to him never having achieved anything noteworthy as a member of a contender. After winning it all, there isn’t a single soul that can question his worth on the team and as a result, his place amongst the league’s best.

Should LA be able to duplicate last season’s success and make a deep playoff run, Davis could escape LeBron’s shadow and be his first teammate ever to realistically challenge him for the Bill Russell Finals MVP award.

With Dwight and McGee off the team and replaced with less paint-dominant bigs, expect Davis’ defensive stats to skyrocket. And what better way to enhance your MVP odds than by being the clear-cut favorite for the Defensive Player of the Year award as well.
