4. Duncan Robinson, shooting guard

Duncan Robinson can shoot the basketball.

Stephen Curry was 24 years old when he hit a total of 272 3-pointers in the 2012-13 season. He is the only player to clear 250 at a younger age than Duncan Robinson, who hit 270 last season. He was one of only four players to hit more than 220 last season, and only the aforementioned Curry has averaged more 3-pointers per game in NBA history.

Simply put, Duncan Robinson is already one of the league’s best shooters, a fact that only gets more insane when you consider he has played just 88 career games, or was undrafted, or any of the other hurdles he had to clear to become an NBA starter. Yet he is now one of the Miami Heat’s most valuable players and a lock for the starting lineup.

The Heat have two high-level two-way stars in Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo, but the two combined to hit just 31 3-pointers last season. Robinson cleared that number in just a six-game span in March. He brings an element to this offense they desperately need to clear the lane for Butler and Adebayo.

Robinson tries hard on defense, but opposing teams will target him to try and play him off of the floor. He’s also as shoot-first as they come, averaging just 1.2 assists per game for his career. If he can grow his playmaking when teams crowd him to take away the 3-pointer and continue to grow as a defender, he could be even better this upcoming season.
