3. It’s going to be tough for the Detroit Pistons to score

The Pistons scored just 84 points on Friday, and that’s not going to cut it in the preseason or regular season most nights. A number of players had a hard time getting the ball in the basket and as a team they shot just 32.5 percent from the floor and 25.6 percent from 3-point range.

That’s really not getting it done.

Jerami Grant in particular had a rough shooting night, going 1-of-11 from the floor. He had one particularly perplexing sequence where he received a pass behind the 3-point line and instead of firing away wide-open, he dribbled two steps inside the arc and bricked a long 2-pointer.

There wasn’t much movement on offense, but it’s important to remember that there probably won’t be a whole lot of wrinkles incorporated into the playbook of a team full of rookies and new players. After all, most of the players on this team were elsewhere until just a couple of weeks ago.

On the plus side, rookie Saddiq Bey tied Svi Mykhailiuk for the scoring lead with 14 points. Bey shot 4-of-12 from the field and 3-of-9 from 3, and Mykhailiuk shot 4-of-9 from the field and 4-of-8 from 3-point range.

The Pistons will need to get both of these players more into the mix going forward.
