NBA Betting Guide 2020-21: Win Totals & Prop Bets
What are some of the best and most valuable bets and propositions that Vegas has to offer for the 2020-2021 NBA season? We’ve done the digging for you.
The NBA is gearing up for a quick turnaround and start to a new season, and the Vegas sportsbooks have released their future and proposition odds. The betting menu is extensive and potentially even overwhelming, but there are some valuable lines and propositions to be had if you dig deep enough.
The shortened season and potential for virus-related interruptions will make for numbers that are more skewed than we are used to. Win totals will appear low. MVP and MIP races will be more condensed. The necessity for rest will be an issue for some of the teams that competed deep into a season that concluded just two months ago.
All of those factors are taken into account in this piece. Here are a couple of other things to keep in mind:
- The player propositions are the ones that I believe hold the most value, not necessarily who I think is going to win. Betting all of the favorites is no fun anyway.
- These lines and numbers are constantly subject to change. Vegas odds sway both with betting trends as well as real-life events. Be sure to double-check the current number before placing any kind of wager based on the following information.
A quick note about lines and propositions for the uninitiated:
If a line has a “+” before the number, then that is the amount that you will win if you bet $100 and are victorious. For example: if a player is +750 to win MVP, you’ll take home $750 for each $100 you bet. Same thing in reverse for a “-“. If a line is -180, then think of it as having to bet $180 to win $100.
Lines have been provided by The Action Network, and player propositions by BetOnline.ag.
