Golden State Warriors DPE trade target No. 1 – Derrick Rose

Another capable ballhandler, Derrick Rose would be a substantial addition to the Golden State Warriors’ second unit. The former league MVP has been one of the hottest names on the trade market for the past year, and with him entering the final year of his two-year, $15 million deal with the Detroit Pistons, they could look to move him for the right price.

If so, the Golden State Warriors should be in the mix of potential suitors. Last season with the Pistons, Rose averaged 18.1 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 5.6 assists per game, primarily as a sixth man, a role that the 32-year-old could fill nicely with the Warriors or several other contending teams.

However, it remains to be seen whether the Pistons will entertain the idea of trading Derrick Rose. The team drafted a point guard No. 8 overall in this past draft, Killian Hayes, and Rose appears keen on taking on that mentorship role for the guard in Detroit next season. As Rose said in a teleconference, Transcribed by The Detroit News:

"“I already talked to him and told him that he was the future of the team and there’s no competing. My job here is to push him and groom him into a great player.”"

At the moment, it appears that Derrick Rose will be staying in Motor City, but the Golden State Warriors should monitor the situation. If the Detroit Pistons are listening to offers on the three-time All-Star, Golden State could help land Rose on a team with championship aspirations, something he has been open about wanting within the past year.
