Golden State Warriors: 3 trade targets using $9.3 million DPE

Golden State Warriors DPE trade target No. 2 – P.J. Tucker
As the Houston Rockets continue to make headlines this offseason for the wrong reasons, the Golden State Warriors should monitor the availability of swingman P.J. Tucker. Last month, The Athletic reported that several players for the Rockets were unhappy with the organization, including Tucker, who is reportedly “irate” over his contract situation, per The Athletic ($).
The team already shipped out Robert Covington and Russell Westbrook through trades, and James Harden’s time is growing closer with each passing hour, it seems. If Tucker is on the clock, Golden State makes sense as a destination.
Tucker is among the most versatile defenders in the NBA, and that type of stature would give the team another strong defensive presence in the frontcourt while also spacing the floor on the other end. The swingman would not be able to claim a starting role ahead of either Draymond Green or James Wiseman, but would undoubtedly be a viable piece in Steve Kerr’s frontcourt rotation.
Tucker is under contract for just under $8 million next season, and if Houston is not willing to hand him the extension he desires, he would be an enticing fit through trade using Golden State’s DPE. It remains to be seen what is yet to come of the Houston Rockets’ ongoing hectic offseason, but the Warriors should keep a close eye on the situation.
