29. Russell Westbrook
Much has been made about what Russell Westbrook is and what he is not at this point in the league. Given his trade demand and subsequently being shipped to the Washington Wizards for John Wall and a protected first-rounder his value has been debated, dragged through the mud and downgraded for months.
While Westbrook may not be a perfect fit everywhere taking what we saw in the bubble as what he currently is seems misguided. He was dealing with an injury and coming off of COVID-19, which still seems to be unpredictable to come back from, to say the least.
In terms of on-court play Westbrook looked like one of the best players in the league just before the season went on hold. Over the 19 games that he played in over the stretch of January and February Westbrook averaged 32.9 points, 7.9 rebounds, 7.3 assists and 1.9 steals per game. It was easy to forget that with everything that has happened in the league and the world since then but Westbrook still deserves more respect than what he is getting.
His fit next to Bradley Beal should actually be an improvement on his current situation. This roster has a lot of shooting around him and he will be able to play like more of the primary ball handler than he was able to do in Houston. In the Eastern Conference, he is almost a lock to be named an All-Star. For a guy with not many fits out there, this feels as close to perfect as possible.
