Golden State Warriors Goal No. 1: Go down fighting

As unthinkable as it is, we can see now on the horizon the end of the Warriors as bonafide contenders each season. With the injury to Thompson, we may have already hit this point and just don’t know it yet. Whatever happens this season though, the end for this group is coming.

As it often the case in the NBA, that end has a habit of arriving suddenly and more unexpectedly than we think. Curry and Green have been spoilt with title runs year after year, so it’s not like we have to feel bad for them.

But even they must be aware that there is a chance that they will never get back to the finals again as a group and with the Warriors. In fact, that is probably more likely than it is unlikely at this moment. So it is imperative that they go down swinging. The team is talented and has tons of experience.

What it also has though are guys like Paschall and Marquese Chriss, and even Wiggins, who still have something to prove in the league. That is the kind of combination that will make life difficult for opponents, when you factor in the undoubtedly quality and coaching that exists at the top end of the roster.

Going out with a whimper is not an option. Yes, the Golden State Warriors are going to lose games to better teams. They’re going to lose games to less talented outfits as well. But as long as they give it their best shot, and pick up signature wins on nationally televised games, of which they still have a lot, while make it back to the postseason, then fans should be happy. It’s been some run to this point, and it’s not over yet.
