The Golden State Warriors are going to be back in a big way in the 2020-21 season, but there are several directions that their season could take.

How quickly they forget. It’s not quite as catchy as the “Strength In Numbers” mantra that the Golden State Warriors built a dynasty around, but this coming season it should be the phrase that they rally around as they return with a bang. The Warriors are back, sort of, with Stephen Curry, Draymond Green and the rest of the group back and ready to go after a long layoff.

Last season was miserable for them, with Curry missing extended time and Klay Thompson not featuring at all for 2019’s beaten finalists. Unfortunately Thompson has been lost for another year, one of the most liked stars in the league, by both fans and his peers, going down with an Achilles tear during offseason workouts.

This while on the way back from the ACL tear suffered in the 2019 Finals. Even the biggest optimist has to be realistic about the kind of player Thompson will be when he finally gets back on the court.

All is not lost though, because the Warriors have a second overall pick in James Wiseman to get excited about, while Andrew Wiggins remains on the roster. He still looks like an ideal trade candidate when the opportunity presents itself. The only issue is that those opportunities appear to have come and gone for the time being.

Nevertheless for Warriors fans there is the knowledge that a competitive roster is on the way back, and one that head coach Steve Kerr will get the most out of. Other organizations out West have certainly gotten better, but the Warriors are still going to be a factor in the postseason.
