2. Improve from deep

The Spurs were 28th in the league last season with 28.5 attempts from deep a night. They were 26th in the league with 10.7 makes per game from the same distance. They were fourth with 37.6 percent from beyond the arc which showed that when they took a shot from deep, it was a good one.

The biggest problem with this is they lost Bryn Forbes, their second most prolific 3-point sniper in free agency. He took 6.0 attempts per game from the land of plenty, making 38.8 percent of them. As he only took 9.2 shot attempts per game, he was a true floor spacer for the Spurs.

While every player needs to help take up some of this slack, Murray has some scope to improve. He took 1.7 nightly attempts from deep last season, making 36.9 percent of them. While he is not a natural perimeter shooter, he is one of the hardest workers in the game.

In his first two seasons in the league, Murray took a total of 57 shots from deep. Last season he took 111, making 41 of them. While this offseason is short for teams that made the playoffs, the Spurs have not played a game since the middle of August. You can guarantee Murray has been working extremely hard since then, especially from deep.
