Milwaukee Bucks offseason recap Part 1: Free agency misses
Austin Rivers was looking for a new home after Houston, and the 6’5″ scorer should be on the lookout for the Bucks next time.
Austin Rivers is a shooting guard who is a more than considerable talent for a team like Milwaukee. Since Rivers was a free agent, acquiring him would have been easier for the Bucks to get to him instead of scrabbling for a trade and cap problems with Houston.
The projections for Rivers are that he can stick with the Rockets as their second unit spark, or as what actually happened, he can be traded to the Knicks and be acclimated into a new role in a new environment, or as what could have happened before his move to New York happened, Rivers could have come to Milwaukee and be a helpful part of the team that they are trying to build.
When I think of future teams and teams as a whole who are looking to build, I think of Austin Rivers. I think of Austin Rivers, the son of Doc Rivers, a basketball legend and coach, who can get a basket at will and play with a team and contribute, as one who deserves to compete and be surrounded by other talented players.
The Bucks can certainly make a pathway for Austin Rivers. Let’s say they are going the championship, talented roster route, Rivers can help with that and it will only benefit the Bucks if he is there along with Antetokounmpo, Middleton, and the others. Rivers would fit right in with the Bucks lineup at the SG position, and with his abilities to score would give the Bucks a lift on that end.
