Fringe options

The frontcourt is a certainty, but the backcourt has some room for debate.

Derrick Rose

Derrick Rose has a strong possibility to start at point guard, but it wouldn’t be accurate to call it a lock. Between Rose, Killian Hayes and Delon Wright, head coach Dwane Casey has plenty of options in the backcourt. We can comfortably call Rose a fringe starter just for the sake of argument.

Killian Hayes

Easily the most exciting option to start, Killian Hayes would ideally be the starting point guard for the Detroit Pistons sometime this season. However, considering the almost immediate turnaround to the start of training camp after the draft and free agency, it’s not likely that Casey will thrust him directly into the fire as a rookie.

Delon Wright

The third member of the Pistons’ guard triumvirate, Delon Wright could feasibly start at either point guard or shooting guard. Will he? I don’t know, you don’t know and neither does anybody else at this early stage.
