Portland Trail Blazers: 3 season goals for Carmelo Anthony in 2020-21
Carmelo Anthony must move into the top 15 on the all-time point scorers list
Currently, Anthony sits in 18th place on the all-time points scored list with 26,446 points NBA/ABA combined. He broke into the top-20 during the bubble passing John Havlicek and Paul Pierce. Next on the list is Tim Duncan who scored 26,496 points for his career.
This will put Anthony up to 17th on the list and will require him to score only 0.7 points per game next season. That will be fairly easy for Anthony to accomplish. The next name on the list is George Gervin who scored 26,595 points. To move up to 16th, Anthony needs only 2.1 points per game.
Then 15th on the list is Dominique Wilkins who scored 26,668 points in his career. To move into the top 15, Anthony needs to only score at 3.1 points per game. However, the goal is not just to make the top 15, it is to entrench himself in there.
Oscar Robertson is 14th on the all-time list with 26,710, which is only 264 points ahead of Anthony when the season starts. He can pass the triple-double legend by scoring only 3.7 points per game. Anthony then has to score only 7.0 points per game to pass Hakeem Olajuwon who is in 13th with 26,946 points.
It becomes a little harder to move up the list after that. He would need to average 12.1 points per game to pass Elvin Hayes who is 12th with 27,313 points. Dan Issel is in 11th with 27,482 points and Anthony would need to average 14.4 points per game, possible but not probable. He will not catch Shaquille ONeal in 10th who scored 28,596 points in his career.
