Patrick Williams has great size and is still growing

When Patrick Williams signed his national letter of intent to play college basketball at Florida State back in 2019 he was 6’7″. When he was taken with the fourth pick in the NBA draft in 2020 he was 6’8″.

At only 19 years old, he is still growing. It would come as a surprise to no one is he ended up a legit 6’9″ or even 6’10” by the time all is said and done. One or two extra inches of height can make a world of difference in the NBA and greatly increase his versatility.

Currently the Bulls starting front line features Otto Porter Jr., Lauri Markkanen and, and Wendell Carter Jr. If newly hired head coach Billy Donovan decides to play a small quick lineup, it’s reasonable to think that Williams could relieve any of the three starters of minutes.

At 6’8″ he’s more than capable of playing the tweener role and either small forward or power forward. If he grows another inch or two he’ll be able to guard most centers in a league that is throwing the ball into the low post less often than ever before.
