Patrick Williams was a highly touted prospect before going to Florida State

Every year, the McDonald’s All American game serves as a showcase of the best high school basketball players in the nation. In 2019, there a 6’7″ kid out of Charlotte, North Carolina who had scholarship offers from perennial powers such as Arizona, Louisville, Maryland and Wake Forest. He was listed as a 6’7″ small forward capable of defending multiple positions.

That spring, he also played in the Jordan Brand Classic, another showcase designed to feature the best players in the country. Ultimately the young man chose to play for Florida State. NBA fans may just now be getting familiar with Patrick Williams, but those in the know have had their eye on him for a long time.

Upon arriving on Florida State’s campus, Williams began contributing right away. Although he came off the bench in every contest, he played well enough to win the 2020 ACC Sixth Man of the Year Award. More importantly, by embracing his role on the team, he was able to help the Seminoles achieve team success.

They went on to win their first regular season ACC championship in the history of the program. Chicago Bulls fans should take this as a sign that Williams is a team player; he’s willing to take on whatever role is necessary to help the team win.
