Solomon Hill:  One year, (undisclosed)

Once a promising two-way player, Solomon Hill‘s career was derailed by injuries. Still, the Hawks reportedly signed the veteran forward to a one-year deal.

The former 23rd overall pick was a member of four playoff teams, including the Miami Heat team that lost to the Lakers in the NBA Finals last season. His veteran presence should be very beneficial for the Hawks’ young core.

Grade: C+

Tony Snell: Trade (Pistons)

Schlenk executed a trade with the ever-so-active Detroit Pistons, sending Dewayne Dedmon in exchange for Tony Snell and Khyri Thomas. The Hawks immediately waived Thomas.

Snell will likely be a fringe rotation player, but he does address multiple needs for the Hawks. He adds depth on the perimeter, fortifies the defense when on the court, and brings with him a solid 38.5 career 3-point percentage.

Grade: C+

Nathan Knight (undrafted)

Knight played in a “weak” conference, but he proved to be a durable player and a force on both sides of the ball. Over his last seasons playing at William and Mary, he averaged 20.9 points, 9.6 rebounds, and 1.9 blocks per game. He was named the conference Defensive Player of the Year last season and the conference Player of the Year his junior season.

The Hawks have an extremely deep frontcourt, which makes him another candidate to spend a significant amount of time in the G-league. Knight likely won’t contribute much until later down the road. Still, with a condensed 72 game schedule and Clint Capela’s durability concerns, anything is possible.

The Hawks may have also come away with a hidden gem in undrafted free agent Nathan Knight who signed a two-way contract with the team.

Grade: A

Nate McMillan

Lost in all the free agency noise and the draft, the Atlanta Hawks added 16-year NBA head coach Nate McMillan to the coaching staff. McMillan most recently coached the Indiana Pacers, parting ways with the organization.

McMillan’s teams are known for their discipline and toughness, which should be a huge boost for the coaching staff and roster. His head coach experience should be very beneficial to Llyod Pierce, who’s going into his third year as head coach of the Atlanta Hawks.
