93. . Forward/Center. Philadelphia 76ers. Paul Reed. 58. player

With their final pick in the draft, the Sixers selected Paul Reed out of DePaul. The 6’10” center has a 7’2” wingspan and a 9’1.5” standing reach but weighs 219 pounds soaking wet. After playing four seasons with the Blue Demons, Reed took his chances and put his name in the NBA draft pool.

In his senior season, he averaged 19.1 points, 13.5 rebounds, 3.2 blocks, and 2.4 steals per 40 minutes with .516/.308/.738 shooting splits.

Reed is going to have to put on some muscle weight, especially in his legs, if he is going to bang with the big boys in the NBA. Still, his 1.9 steals and 2.6 blocks per game show his potential as a multi-positional defender.

He is solid when defending against the pick-and-roll, displaying the ability to switch onto guards and wings on the perimeter. Despite his small frame, he does a good job deterring shots and protecting the rim.

He was a defensive nightmare for opposing teams last year. According to Hoop Lens, DePaul allowed just 0.90 PPP with Reed on the court and 1.03 with him on the bench. Last season he had a career-best 88.8 defensive rating.

His offense leaves a lot to be desired. He suffers from poor shot selection and tends to rely too much on his athleticism and length. He made just 30.8 percent of his 3-pointers, but he shot over 55 percent on two-pointers and 51.5 percent overall.

While he needs to put on some weight and his offense is still raw and inefficient, his physical tools and defensive versatility still give him a good chance to be a solid backup to Joel Embiid.
