Why Tyrese Haliburton will benefit the Sacramento Kings

Tyrese Haliburton’s intangibles
There is no surprise that the Sacramento Kings have had difficulty winning games in over a decade. Some common descriptions of those struggling teams have been lack of effort and lack of awareness. For Haliburton, fans will not have to worry about that.
Not only did Haliburton prove in college that he has the skills to be a good NBA player, but the mental makeup as well. When describing Haliburton, his character and effort are always highlighted. Bobby Marks, Insider for ESPN, even mentioned that his favorite draft interview was with the new Kings guard. But not only has Haliburton displayed a great attitude towards the game, but he has shown throughout his time at Iowa State to be a smart player on both ends of the floor.
For the Kings to turn their franchise around, they need a culture change. Haliburton alone is not going to turn the ship around, but he is the type of player the Kings need more of going forward. When looking at Haliburton, I cannot help but think of Kings’ fan-favorite Doug Christie. For Christie, he played such a pivotal part in those throwback Kings teams due to his versatility on both ends while being a pleasure as a teammate.
To me, Haliburton could be that guy for the new era of Sacramento basketball. The chances of Haliburton being an All-Star are slim. I do not even know if he will be as effective as Christie. But with his skill set and intangibles, he is someone that I believe will be a great asset for the Kings for the following years to come.
