Charlotte Hornets

Along the same lines, the Charlotte Hornets have long been connected to big men in the market and they have the cap space to not have to send anything problematic back to Detroit. Imagining him in the pick-and-roll with LaMelo Ball was something Pistons fans envisioned prior to the draft lottery earlier this year.

This could immediately vault Charlotte into contention for the eighth seed. The pairing of PJ Washington and Christian Wood would give them a fascinating modern offensive duo down low if nothing else.

Malik Monk needs a change of scenery, having yet to find his footing in Charlotte. After looking like a future star alongside De’Aaron Fox at the University of Kentucky he has yet to live up to that. He projected to be a gunner from long range but is a career 32.2 percent 3-point shooter thus far.

That being said, his overall efficiency has improved each year and he is developing more as a passer and rebounder. He is easily the most expendable guard for the team, behind the likes of Ball, Terry Rozier and Devonte’ Graham. This is a perfect buy-low flier for the Pistons to take as they begin the restoring process. Given the volatility of the roster here Charlotte should not be shipping out any first-round picks but tacking on a second-rounder is worth it for both teams.
