Semi Ojeleye’s grade: D+

Semi Ojeleye was once a promising player was incredible athletic abilities. However, in the past three seasons with the Boston Celtics, he has none seen much improvement in his game.

This season, he did become a much more efficient three-pointer shooter, a weakness in his overall limited offensive game, helping him gain a few more minutes. Nevertheless, his shot abandoned him when it mattered most, shooting 21.7 percent from three in the playoffs, making five out of his 23 attempts. With Grant Williams emerging as a strong interior defender, it leads to the question – how valuable is Ojeleye?

Offensively, even as he became more consistent as a shooter during the regular season, he scored 3.4 points in 14.7 minutes per night. His playmaking, pick and roll, and passing abilities are still well underdeveloped, and at 25 years old (almost 26), it makes it hard for the Celtics to continue to hope for a better future.

His defense against the ‘unicorns’ of the game, like Giannis Antetokounmpo and Ben Simmons, was a positive, but if Ainge cannot find a trade partner for the draft picks this season, Ojeleye may not come back to Boston for next season.
