Donovan Mitchell: 5 years, $195 million (Utah Jazz)

The Utah Jazz have re-signed their young superstar Donovan Mitchell to a five-year, $195 million max extension. While he was certainly in line for this deal before the NBA bubble, his performance in Orlando after the league season resumed absolutely sealed the deal.

In the playoffs alone, Mitchell lit the world on fire in their first-round series against the Denver Nuggets, averaging 36.3 points, 5.0 rebounds and 4.9 assists per game. He shot 52.9 percent from the floor, 51.6 percent from 3-point range and 94.8 percent from the free throw line. On the offensive end, Mitchell looked like he was playing NBA 2K on rookie mode. It wasn’t just easy for him, it was automatic.

It was one of the most impressive playoff performances we’ve ever seen in a single series, let alone in a loss, and Donovan Mitchell seems like the kind of guy who intends to live up to every dollar and expectation this contract provides him.

For the 13th pick in the first round of the 2017 NBA draft, this is a fantastic contract for both player and team.
